Courageous Advocates

What is Courageous Advocacy?

Courageous advocacy, as defined by the Church of England, is the act of speaking out against injustice, especially on behalf of those whose voices are often overlooked. At St Mary's, we inspire and support our children to become courageous advocates, empowering them to believe in their potential as 'agents of change' working towards a fairer and more compassionate world. Our pupils champion causes that are meaningful to them, whether these are personal concerns or broader global issues that call for action and change.

Courageous Advocacy at St Mary’s

At St Mary’s, we believe you’re never too young to make a difference. Our school is all about encouraging students to stand up for what’s right, whether it's helping a friend, supporting a cause, or speaking out for those who need it. We teach our pupils that through courage, compassion, and kindness, they can create positive change and make the world a better place—one action at a time.

Courageous advocacy at St Mary’s means using your voice to help others and to speak out when something isn’t fair. It could be as simple as standing up for a classmate, or as big as helping a global cause. We believe that no matter how young you are, you can always make an impact. Our school values—joy, trust, hope, friendship, compassion, and courage—guide our students as they work together to make a difference in their school, their community, and the world.
