Y6 - Courage Class

Welcome to the wonderful world of Year 6. The class teacher is Mr Dempsey supported by Mrs Whaley and Mrs Davis.

We ask big questions like, 'What can be learned from a world of discovery?' and 'What does our planet need from us?'. Our classroom is a place where you can love your learning, whilst learning to love yourself and the world around you.

Our class novel for Autumn Term: Holes

Class Novel: Holes by Louis Sachar

Stanley Yelnats, a boy who has bad luck due to a curse placed on his great- great-grandfather, is sent to Camp Green Lake, a juvenile detention camp, for a crime he did not commit. Stanley and the other boys at the camp are forced to dig large holes in the dirt every day.

Louis Sachar is an American young-adult mystery-comedy author. He is best known for the Wayside School series and the novel Holes. Holes won the 1998 U.S. National Book Award for Young People's Literature and the 1999 Newbery

KIRF

KIRFs are the 'Key Instant Recall Facts' that children need to secure during their primary years. They include facts such as number bonds and times tables. They are particularly useful when calculating, adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing but also underpin many other areas of mathematics.
